PEAK MUSIC 1970

This is a series that will attempt to Sport(ify) music by creating a 5 member All-Pro/All League/All Star team (Sort of like the NBA first team all-stars) for each year in Music starting with 1964. It will rely heavily on Top 20 Hits from the year but also take into account Concert Tours, Music awards, Music Videos (MTV Crowd-You Tube), TV, Films, Pop Culture etc…..

1970

The Jackson 5 had 3 top ten hits all reaching number 1 including "ABC".

The Beatles had 2 top ten hits both reaching number 1 including Let it Be.

Simon Garfunkel had 3 top twenty hits including 1 number 1 and "Cecila" which it number 4.

Three Dog Night had 4 top twenty hits including 1 number one "Mama told be not to come.

Picking number 5 was the most difficult. I was tempted to go with the Partridge Family (I think I love You) but the Guess Who had 4 top twenty hits including one number one "American Woman".

Also in the running was Chicago with 3 top ten hits.

  1. The Jackson 5 actually had 4 number one hits during the year--I assume you didn't count "I Want You Back" because it was released in late 1969. Either way, one of the biggest years in pop chart history, and what great records too.

Good list. The Partridge Family became pretty big but really just had the one hit (their biggest) in 1970 with more following the next year.
