Maybe Barkley is rated higher than he should because he is such a personality, but I think he was very good though the below numbers don't back it up.
He lead the league in rebounding only once but he only finished averaging below 10 rebounds per game once over 16 years. It is impressive to look at his stats and see all those double digit rebound seasons.
Also, Barkley was the player who provided the greatest challenge Michael Jordan during his 6-0 championship run. Even though the series did not seem close – The 1992-93 Pheonix Suns were probably Jordan's biggest threat.
