Harold Baines

Harold Baines was just at the beginning of his career. He looked to be a Eddie Murray type but a knee injury in 1986 probably cost him a Hall of Fame selection. He still was good after the knee injury but he never turned in the superstar player that was expected of him. Here he is in some neat looking White Sox soft ball uniforms.   

2012 Bowman Baseball goes White

Borders. For the first time since 1995 Bowman Baseball goes with all white Borders. In the last 10-15 years Bowman Baseball has been using black borders for its sets but now it has gone to the White. These cards look great (except for the foil).

Did You Know that David Wells wore Babe Ruth baseball cap in a Yankee game in 1997.

On June 28, 1997, David Wells of the Yankees wore Babe Ruth's cap in the first inning against the Cleveland Indians. Wells bought the cap that Ruth wore in the early 1930s in 1997 for $35,000. He was fined for wearing it for during the game because it did not conform to the Yankees uniform standards. Wells is now auctioning off the cap to help his old high school. The current bid is $189, 000 (from wire dispatches).

If Topps would win this auction and cut up the cap would with this be the first dual player worn memorabilia card? I don't think there has ever been one created.

Johnnie Lemaster

A nice shot of a player bunting, not as nice as the Tim Foli card that I featured about a week ago but one of the more interesting shots. For some reason most of the Giants cards in this set are kind of dull, plain and boring looking.

Ed Farmer

Donruss the Rookies Lee Smith

I think this tight in action shot of Lee Smith on this card is probably his best 1982 rookie. He was captured by all three major card companies and I would have to say that his Fleer card is another pretty good in action shot. Topps 1982 hockey stick set does not make it but the colors are nice.

Milt May

May 4th will be ending in a few minutes but 37 seven years ago on May 4th 1975 Milt May of the Houston Astros drove in Bob Watson who would score baseball's one millionth run.  This kind of an O.K./boring card.
