Jerry Turner #609

This photo reminds me of the old Topps photos from the 1960s where, Topps would take a picture of the player without any logos showing in case they had to use it later in the event the player was traded. Here, however, you could see a little bit of the White Sox logo. On the back of the card, it states Jerry was purchased by the White Sox on Sept 9^th from Padres. So Donruss went out and got a new photo of him in a Sox uniform before the season ended.

Jack O’Connor #539

After just recently having 2 posts about Frenchmen. I decided that the Irish should get their due. Another super clear photo. This photo looks like it could have been taken yesterday, in Florida on a nice clear day. The Donruss 1982, was able to capture the vivid colors of MLB uniforms in the early 1980s (except maybe the 1984 Fleer set). While the 1984 Donruss set is more popular, the photos from that set tend to have a darken hue to them. The photos of the set does not stand out to the eye as well as this set.

Frank Pastore (Frenchman) #122

Another nice action shot of a Cincinnati Red. I think we know that this card was taken at Wrigley Field. The photographer caught Frank in a full wind up. I wonder if I or someone else should start a blog about all the pitchers cards that show the pitcher with one leg in the air. Not sure if he was related to Louie. The second Frenchman post today (see Saucier).

Sammy Stewart #457

I think this was taken in old Memorial Staduim. You can see the 380 marker on the outfield fence. This is a decent action shot of Sammy on the follow through after his throw. Back Facts: Was nosed-out by one percentage point by A's Steve McCarthy for the much-disputed AL ERA title last year

Kevin Saucier #485

Kevin the Flying Saucier. He must be of French descent. He seems to be a happy looking fellow who lets his hair blow in the wind.

Back Facts: Scouts thought he was the best LH reliever in the AL last year. 

Joey McLaughlin #507

This is what I would call a face shot. You get a whole lot of face on the card. Joey looks like someone but I really can't pinpoint who. Nice odd background of all the empty seats behind him. Back Facts: Blue Jays top reliever last season. 

Rick Leach #583

The former Michigan QB did not have the career success as Kirk Gibson. I don't think this photo was taken at old Tiger stadium. SWEAT. Rick must have come back from a workout because you can see the sweat on the side of his head and the from the little curl of hair on his forehead.
