Doc Medich #142 (The only baseball card ever to mention Allegheny General Hospital)

A real life doctor whose practice would turn tragic years later. The original Doc before Doc Gooden. Both Doc’s would be involved in drug scandals. Gooden with taking them and Medich with subscribing them. Another real life hero. Back Facts: A resident in general surgery at Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital, he has twice put his profession into action at games by saving the lives of heart attack victims.

  1. Never heard of this guy until I pulled his card recently out of a pack of 1981 Fleer. Immediately assumed the name Doc came from his last name sounding like medic. Instead, the research showed the Doc came from him actually studying to be a doctor.
