PEAK MUSIC 1979

Donna Summer dominated with 5 top 5 hits including 3 number ones.

Bee Gee had two number one hits.

Michael Jackson would have two number one hits  including "Rock With You"

Commadores had 2 top 5 hits including number one "Still"

Earth Wind Fire (who would have probably made a few top ten lists in the 1970s) had 2 top 10 hits including "After the Love has Gone" which made it to number one.

Just missing was KC and the Sunshine Band who had a 2 top 2 hits including "Please don't go"

  1. Good list. Kenny Rogers was also strong that year with 3 top tens, but I don't think he'd quite knock anyone out.

    The Bee Gees has been so big for a couple years and pretty much feel off the table immediately after.
